NORE.

The process

From a file to a lamp.

Every NORE lamp is 3D printed in our Seattle studio after you order it. This is what happens between your order and your door.

01

Design and test prints

Every design goes through months of test prints before it goes on sale: rib spacing, wall thickness, material, and how the glow falls through the shade. EVERGREEN came out of hikes around Seattle and months of rib, material and light tests.

02

Printed after you order

When you order, your lamp goes on the printer. It's built from the bottom up, 0.2 mm at a time, every rib rising together. EVERGREEN starts as a solid ring; LINJE, shown here, starts as a square frame of ribs.

03

The lines are the layers

Look closely and you'll see fine horizontal lines. Each one is a layer. We keep them: they catch the light, and they show how the lamp was made.

04

Finished by hand

Each lamp is cleaned up, fitted with its socket, cord and bulb, and switched on for a final check before it's prepared for the trip.

Packed and shipped

Wrapped in paper honeycomb, sealed with a NORE sticker and boxed in the studio. It ships within 1-3 business days (order by 2pm Pacific), free in the U.S., and arrives in 3-7 business days.

Why printed

Printed, not manufactured.

Shapes a mould can't make

Eighty separate ribs at nine heights would need costly tooling in a factory. A printer builds them directly from the file.

Nothing waiting in a warehouse

We print after you order, so there's no stock of unsold lamps and no overproduction.

New designs, without a factory run

A new lamp can go from test print to the shop without ordering thousands of units.

Questions

About made to order.

All FAQs →

Why doesn't my lamp ship the same day?

Because it's printed after you order. A lamp can take a day or more on the printer, then it's finished and checked. Most orders ship within 1-3 business days.

Are the fine lines a defect?

No. They're the print layers, and every NORE lamp has them. Layers separating or cracking is a defect, and the 1-year warranty covers it.

Can I get a lamp in a custom colour?

Ask the studio at hello@nore.design. Custom orders are printed just for you, so they're final sale.
